About

My interest in health and nutrition began in high school. After pulling a groin muscle during a cheerleading tryout I started gaining weight and feeling sluggish. This initiated my passion for fitness classes as I started doing Kathy Smith VHS fitness tapes and fell in love! I went on to study at Miami University, where I earned a BS in Dietetics and an MS in Exercise and Health. While in school I became a certified Fitness Instructor and started teaching locally at various corporations for TriHealth Corporate Health.  Upon graduation, I worked as a Personal Trainer and Fitness Instructor at The Greenbrier Resort and Spa, The Atlantic Coast Athletic Club, and Boars Head Resort in West Virginia and Virginia. After relocating to Cincinnati, I became an In-Home Personal Trainer in Indian Hill while teaching fitness classes locally and Bootcamps in my backyard and in a rented space.  My last fitness role was with Kenwood Country Club where I worked for 7 years as a Personal Trainer and Fitness Instructor. I am now looking to bring community fitness/wellness services to my hometown, Hamilton.

In addition, I am a Certified Health Coach with over 5 years of individual and group coaching experience.  I began my coaching by leading a program called Beat the METS for GE employees who were at risk for heart disease and diabetes.  I led a 3-month program that consisted of lectures on nutrition, physical fitness and stress reduction in combination with individualized health coaching.  I went on to work for Humana Healthcare as a Health Coach working with members who suffered from chronic conditions.  During COVID, I completed the Duke Integrative Health and Well-Being Coach program.  I am currently working as a Health Coach on a virtual rehabilitation program designed to help active military members with musculoskeletal injuries.

Finally, I have been an Adjunct Kinesiology and Health Instructor for Miami University for 20 years.  I began by teaching Personal Health lecture and Aerobics and Weight Training courses at the Hamilton campus.  I then taught Physical Activity and Health, Personal Health and Health Issues in Children in Oxford until I lost my job during COVID.  I am now back at the Hamilton campus teaching Physical Activity and Health and Aerobics.
